Valley Falls- Beverly Joan (Briggs) Moore, 91, died peacefully, Sunday, October 26, 2025 with her devoted children by her side.

Born September 9, 1934, Beverly was the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Helen E. (Petteys) Briggs and for over 33 years the wife and partner of Kenneth Moore who predeceased her in 1995.

Beverly and her five siblings grew up in the Valley with many lifelong friends. After graduating from Hoosic Valley Central as valedictorian, she attended Russell Sage College in Troy for Physical Education, and was a proud alumna for the rest of her life.

Upon her graduation, she was employed as a physical education teacher in Beaver Falls, NY and later at Duxbury, MA. She returned home to marry Kenneth Moore and worked as a Phys-ed instructor at Hoosic Valley Central School until the birth of her children. As her children grew, she returned to teaching at Hoosic Valley as a substitute teacher. No matter how long Beverly spent away from the classroom, she was well remembered by her students. She always retained her sense of fun and love of learning, and never lost her ability to command a room in the best ways.

Beverly was an avid traveler, often with her Briggs siblings. She was a ruthless champion of board games, and she and her sisters, Lorraine and Helene were unbeatable at Scrabble. She read voraciously, which made her an excellent at-home participant at Jeopardy, and those close to her knew better than to visit or call at 7:30 p.m., unless they wanted to watch with her.

She was a lifelong and active member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. After her husband, Kenneth’s death, she became president of the St. Croix Farm Corporation and was a huge part of why the farm is still running today. Bev will be missed at the head of the table at family dinners on Friday nights, where she was always ready with a witty comment or her warm smile. She had a star power that made an impression on everyone she met and a warmth that made people want to stay in her life.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Margery Reilly and a son and daughter-in-law, John and Eva Moore, granddaughters, Emily and Mckenna (Shane), a great-grandson, Xander, her brother, Wayne Briggs and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Helene, Lorraine, Ramon and Walden and a grandson, Matthew.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church, 16 State Street, Valley Falls. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 P.M. officiated by Rev. Dion Marquat, pastor. Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions, at the request of the family, may be made to either the Valley Falls United Methodist Church, or the Schaghticoke or Pittstown Area Food Pantries in memory of Beverly J. Moore.
