Pittstown- Clifford John “C.J.” Sweet, 40, formerly of Vermont and more recently Boyntonville, died suddenly Friday, September 20, 2024, after being stricken at his residence.
Born April 18, 1984, in Bennington, VT., C.J. is the son of the late Steven Sweet and Sharon (Surdam) Barber and Donald Barber of Pittstown, who survive.
C.J. was a graduate of Montpelier High School in Vermont.
For several years, C.J. was employed as a stock clerk and cart wrangler at the Price Chopper Supermarket in Bennington prior to retiring early due to illness.
In his quiet time, C.J. enjoyed walking with friends to stay fit, especially at Woodford State Park in Vermont and Peebles Island State Park in Cohoes. Additionally, he enjoyed camping, playing video games, watching television, and rooting for all the Boston professional sports teams—the Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, C.J. is survived by a sister, Tabitha Barber of Boyntonville, a brother, Joseph E. Barber of Pittstown, a niece and nephew, Kaylee Barber and Leverett Shaw, a great niece, Aniya Barber-Young, maternal and paternal aunts and uncles, and many cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
