Brunswick- Dona E. Kreiger, 68, a lifelong resident of the Town of Brunswick, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 4, 2025, in the comfort of her home following a short illness.
Born in Troy January 8, 1957, Dona was the daughter of the late Don G. and Alberta (Dearstyne) Kreiger.
Dona was a graduate of Tamarac High School and the former Mary McClellan Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned an Associate’s Degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
For many years, Dona was employed by several area health care facilities as an LPN. More recently, she was self-employed, providing home health care services with a caring and personal touch as a private duty nurse for several area families and clients.
Dona was a lifetime member of Gilead Lutheran Church in Center Brunswick. Following in her parent’s footsteps, she served on the Church Council, headed the church Worship and Music committee, and served as Church Historian.
Among her many hobbies, Dona loved animals, especially her pet cats and dogs, and flowers. She also raised chickens as a way of celebrating her family’s longtime farming heritage in Brunswick. Above all else, even though she had no children of her own, she cherished all her nieces and nephews as if they were her own and loved to spend time in visiting with each of them.
Dona’s survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Allan and Betty Kreiger, Keith and Lisa Kreiger, J. Emil and Tanis Kreiger, and Edgar “Ed” Kreiger and Tammie Lockrow, all of Brunswick, and Stephen (the late Sue Cooper) Kreiger of Poestenkill, 10 much loved nieces and nephews, Matthew (Stacie) Kreiger, David Kreiger, Mark Kreiger, Regina (Todd) Catlin, Jeremy (Margie) Kreiger, Jennifer (Joe) Blair, John (Sara) Kreiger, Andrea (Brian) Keefer, Dana (Terry) Tooley, Brittany Kreiger, Harold (Traci) Cooper, and Matthew (Rachel Simonds) Cooper, several great and great-great nieces and nephews, close personal friends Cathy and Patty, and many friends made through her personal and nursing life.
