 Pittstown- Gladys L. Hughes, 82, died suddenly Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with her family by her side after being stricken at her  Pittstown residence.
Gladys was born on July 3, 1943, in Warren, Vermont.  She was the daughter of the late Carl and Edith Goodell and, for many years, the wife of the late Russell Hughes and, more recently, the best friend and companion of Hal Banker of Pittstown, who survives.
For many years, Gladys was a homemaker and while raising her family, worked for over 20 years as a production worker at the Tek Hughes manufacturing facility.  More recently, she was employed as a customer service representative at Big Lots in Troy.
Gladys enjoyed hosting her extended family during the holidays and parties at her home.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed word search puzzles, and loved listening to music, especially from the 1960’s and R&B from any era.
In addition to her best friend, Hal, Gladys is survived by her children, Kevin and Justine Hughes of Troy, Russell and Uliana Hughes of Delmar, Lisa Lavoie of Hoosick Falls, and Keith Hughes of Troy, her grandchildren, Letitia Hughes, Kevin  Hughes II, Brandon and Angela Hughes, Khrystyna and Mateusz Ostrowkowski, Sofia Kykliak, Cameron Lavoie, Keith Hughes, Nitisha Hughes, KayShawn Hughes, Brittany Hughes, Keith Hughes, Jr., Kyle Hughes, Dakota Hughes, and Zachary Hughes, great grandchildren, Jessie Brown, Makai Cruel, Keira Hughes, Daniel and Matteo Ostrowski, a great-great granddaughter, Ivy Brown, and Hal’s family, Kristin and John Nazarian, Alicia and Michael Lombard III, and Brian and Elyse Banker, their children, who referred to Gladys as “GiGi,” Nicholas, Ethan, and Zachary Nazarian, Michael IV and Emma Lombard, and Olivia and Aya Banker, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to her parents and late husband, Gladys was predeceased by her Goodell siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home, 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. A prayer for Gladys and her family will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Following cremation, burial will take place at the convenience of her family.
