North Greenbush- Irene L. (LeBarron) Messemer, 92, a resident of Cropseyville for over 60 years and more recently Brunswick, died peacefully, Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family by her side following a long illness.
Born September 1, 1933, Irene was the daughter of the late Clinton H. and Irma E. (Loker) LeBarron and for over 56 years the wife of John Messemer who predeceased her on August 16, 2010.
Irene was a graduate of Berlin Central High School and a wonderful home maker following her marriage to John on December 12. 1953. Together with John, she raised her own children and additionally opened their home as foster parents to over 75 children in need of a loving family and safe place to call home.
Irene assisted many young neighboring families as a dependable and safe baby sitter and was incredibly talented as a seamstress, creating and sewing many bridal gowns for ladies on their special day. She enjoyed crafting in her quiet time of which there was very little and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Irene is survived by her five children, Ted J. Messemer of Swamscott, MA, Gary P. and Yvonne Messemer of Cropseyville, Bonnie I. Bradford-Martin (Bob) of Delmar, Tammy J. King (Jim) and David J. Messemer, all of Florida, a brother, Jesse C. LeBarron of Tampito, IL and two sisters, Elizabeth C. “Betty” Chase of W. Brookfield, MA and Marjorie A. Vincent of Berlin, grandchildren, great-grandchildren , great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was also predeceased by a sister, Gretchen F. LaDue, formerly of Fairfield, VT and a grandson, Jesse Bradford.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown from 12:00 p.m. (noon) - 1:45 p.m. A funeral service for Irene will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot located at Brookside Cemetery in Brunswick.
