Pittstown- James L. “Jim” Houser, 59, passed away peacefully Friday, July 31, 2026, in the comfort of his longtime Pittstown residence with his family by his side, following a long illness.
Born April 27, 1967, Jim was the son of the late Anna (Brundige) Houser and, for over 34 years, the devoted husband of Elizabeth R. “Liz” (Honsinger) Houser of Pittstown, who survives.
Jim was a graduate of Tamarac High School, Class of 1986.
For over 21 years, Jim was employed as production worker and later as a line leader by the Philips Medical Company, Inc., in Latham. He retired in 2022.
Jim was active in support of his community as a member of the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps. (PVEC) and assisted at many of the dinners and banquets hosted at the Corps Brundige Hall.
While not at work or assisting his family and friends with their projects, Jim enjoyed watching and was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, the New York Mets baseball team, and the New York Knicks basketball team. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being outside in the beauty of nature. Jim and Liz enjoyed caring for their home and vegetable gardens.
In addition to the love of his life, Liz, Jim is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Lori and Brad Cicchinelli of Grafton, Randi and Kyle Michel of Pittstown, and Stephanie and Cameron Michel of Pittstown, five adored grandchildren, Melanie, Nathan, Aaliyah, Hunter, and Colton, a brother and sister-in-law, John and Lori Houser of Brunswick, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kathy Grogan of Schaghticoke and Maryanne and Deforest Pitt of White Creek, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by a sister, the late Robin Falzo.
A memorial service with a light supper reception for Jim will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps., 60 Parker School Road, in Pittstown. Relatives and friends may call at the Squad House from 3:00-5:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial at Norton Cemetery will be held at a later date and time convenient for the family.
