Troy- John Elwin Blowers Jr., 68, a longtime dairy farmer and resident of Brunswick, died peacefully Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, following a long illness with his family by his side.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, October 1, 1957, John is the son of the late John E. and Jane Stewart (Bryant) Blowers Sr. and the husband of the late Susan J. (Roberts) Blowers, who predeceased him April 4, 2015.

John was a graduate of Berlin High School.  After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed basic training at Paris Island, SC. At the convenience of the government, he was remanded to the Marine Reserves without active-duty status and, for many years, completed his weekend and weeklong reserve trips across the country and Alaska.

John loved dairy farming and the outdoors, working with animals and equipment, and the many good and solid friendships made through the hard, 24 hours a day, work of farming.  He was employed at several area farms, including the former Smith Farm in Pittstown, the Hewitt Farm in Brunswick, and for the past 38 years, Herrington Farms in Brunswick.

In his quiet time, John enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and four-wheeler, and spending time with his friends and pets.

John is survived by a son, Christopher Blowers of Troy, a sister and brother-in-law, Leanna and Keith Sweet of Grafton, a brother and sister-in-law, Avery and Lisa Blowers of Petersburg, a grandson, a niece, three nephews, many friends made through the years on the farm, and his “buddy,” Ruger, his French Bulldog pal.

In addition to his parents and wife, John was predeceased by a son, the late John E. Blowers III.

At John’s request, there will be no service or public calling.

To honor his love of animals and the value of pets in our lives, memorial contributions may be made to the Pet Connection-CAPP (Companion Animal Placement Program), 279 Troy Road, Suite 9, Rensselaer, NY 12144, in memory of John E. Blowers Jr.
