Brunswick- John Edward Tybush, 68, a longtime resident of Brunswick, died suddenly Monday, August 19, 2024, after being stricken while caring for his animal friends and doing what he loved at his farm, following a short illness.
Born in Troy February 12, 1956, John was the son of the late Frank L. and Helen A. (Wagar) Tybush III and the husband of Elva I. (Kautz) Bennison of Brunswick, who survives. John and Elva were married on October 4, 2020.
John was a graduate of Tamarac High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
For over 25 years, John was employed by the General Electric Co. Engine Systems facility in Latham. He worked his way up through the ranks of employees, beginning his career as a machinist and earning the title of Maintenance Supervisor before retiring in 2018. After retirement, he devoted his time to the operation of his beloved Tybush Mtn. Alpaca Farm in Brunswick, which he established in 2011. He raised and cared for many different types of animal and fowl, including Guinea hens, peacocks, chickens, beef cows, and alpacas, of course. He also operated a retail store featuring farm-made products from the wool or produce harvested from his animals.
John was a former member of the Volunteer Fire Company of Center Brunswick and a past Scout Master of the Boy Scouts of America, Brunswick Troop #537.
John was a wonderful machinist and fabricator of metal works for himself and to assist friends with projects. He would often stay up late at night pondering how to get impossible projects worked out and then would solve the problem with an ingenious and sensible solution. He loved to work on and collect old tractors, cars, and trucks, but would be interested in collecting anything unique in interest or value. His most favorite pastime was to relax with his family and friends at the farm. One of his favorite lines was, “You can never have enough good friends and cold beer to share with them.”
In addition to Elva, John is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John E. Tybush II of Troy, Nathan and Nikki Tybush of Grafton, Zachary Bennison, Brayden Bennison, and his fiancee, Christine, all of Walloomsac, and Jared and Amanda Bennison of Shaftsbury, VT, two sisters and a brother, Penny Martiniano of Virginia, Christine Benedict of Willsboro, and Frank L. Tybush IV of Florida, six grandchildren, Isabel, Charli, Ember, Bella, Noah, and Lucian, several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown. At John’s request, following his cremation he will be laid to rest on his Brunswick farm.
Contributions, if desired, may be made to the Volunteer Fire Company of Center Brunswick Inc., 1045 Hoosick Road, Troy, NY 12180, in memory of John E. Tybush.
John’s family would like to thank all of his friends and let them know how much he appreciated them all, especially his closest of friends, Rick, Henry, Mick, Andy and Naples for all of their love, support and especially their understanding.
