Brunswick - John W. Orecki Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025 doing what he loved, working on his farm.

Born in Troy on November 3, 1948, John was the son of the late John W and Julia (Nizinkirk/Nizinkirc) Orecki Sr. John is survived by his former wife, Deborah Orecki, and their child Zoe Orecki.

John was a lifelong resident of the town of Brunswick, New York. Like his father, John was a lifelong farmer, with a passion for the land.

John was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College. John continued in his father’s footsteps, ultimately becoming the primary operator of the Orecki Farm. The Farm was known for its herd of Brown Swiss cows and continues to produce high quality hay.

John loved his pets, was an active member of the community and a devoted father. In his spare time, John also enjoyed tinkering in his shop, traveling to the Southwest and participating in long visits with friends and neighbors that often
included him sharing his interest in local history, such as the mystery of Hazel Drew. Those that knew him were aware he had a heart of gold.

In addition to his daughter, Dr. Zoe Orecki of Wynantskill, John is survived by his brother, Peter (MaryJane) of Wynantskill and sisters Barbara (Thomas) McKinley and Joyce (Wesley) McPheeters. John was predeceased by his sister Janet Parker.

Services and burial are private.

To honor John’s love of nature and animals, memorial contributions may be directed to Pet Connection-CAPP (Companion Animal Placement Program), 279 Troy Road - Suite 9, Rensselaer, NY 12144, in memory of John W. Orecki Jr.
