Eagle Mills- Lorraine T. Roberts, 93, a resident of Brunswick since 1963, died peacefully Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in the comfort of her longtime Eagle Mills home with her loving family by her side following a brief illness.

Born in Troy October 18, 1931, Lorraine was the daughter of Irene Richards and raised by her “Pipere and Mimere,” Octave and Hanoriah Richards, in Troy after her mother died when Lorraine was just 13 years of age.

Lorraine attended Catholic elementary schools in Troy and Catholic Central High School in Lansingburgh.

As a young woman, Lorraine worked as a clerk at the former W.T. Grant retail store in Troy.
After meeting David Roberts and a short romance, the couple married on June 10, 1951, and celebrated over 50 years of marriage before his passing in February 2002.

More recently, Lorraine was employed as and will fondly be remembered by many as the “Super Samples Lady” at the Price Chopper Market 32 in Brunswick.  She met and made many friends with her smile and pleasant personality, while inviting patrons to try a sample or two of new and innovative products offered by the market.  After more than 18 years of service, she retired in 2019.

In addition to being a working mother and homemaker, her husband, Dave, gave her a sewing machine as a Christmas gift, which led to her love of sewing and became a talented seamstress.  For over 60 years, she created and tailored clothing for her family and friends.

Lorraine had boundless energy.  In addition to her daily tasks, she was an avid bowler and enjoyed many bowling trips to Atlantic City, NJ, with her lady friends.  She ran the Popular Club-Merchandise Catalog and liked to play Bingo, penny slots at the casino, and taking trips to the Saratoga Race Track to watch and bet on the horses.  Among her favorite pastimes was watching wrestling on television, a hobby her grandmother got her hooked on as a girl.  She continued this passion as an adult and enjoyed watching Monday Nite Raw and Friday Night Smackdown.  She loved to visit with her family and friends and enjoyed talking about her trips to both Hawaii and St. Maarten.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Donna Gibson (the late John) of Brunswick, David Roberts of Eagle Mills, and Debra (John) Hewitt of Brunswick,
grandchildren, Tarra and Al Quackenbush, Lindsey Gibson and Tom Poli, Tiffany and Corey Dahl, and Adam Roberts, great-grandchildren, Zachary Dahl, Caleigh Quackenbush, Riley Dahl, and Natalie Quackenbush, and her beloved pet dog, Katie.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown.  A funeral service for Lorraine will follow at 4:00 p.m.
