Brunswick- Marshall A. "Butch" Salvi, 80, passed away on July 18, 2026. Born in Troy at Samaritan Hospital in 1945, he was the firstborn son of the late Samuel Salvi Sr. and Mary Louise (Pleasant) Salvi. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Hilton) Salvi; Children: Jennifer Platania (Michael Platania), Derek Salvi, Martin Salvi (Caroline Anderson), William Salvi, and Mary Salvi (Jason); Grandchildren: Sean Slaven, Andrew "AJ" Slaven, Francesca "Frankie" Salvi and Violet Salvi; Sister: Marie Shoar (Richard); Brothers: Sam Salvi (Diana) and Scott Salvi (Tuoi); and many beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
Marshall was a graduate of Tamarac High School and received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Siena College. He worked for the State of NY Department of Family & Children Services as an accountant and retired after 33 years of service. Marshall was a dedicated provider and he almost always had a second or even third job working often in real estate, insurance, and as a bookkeeper. He was most proud of the successful home appraisal business he started and built after his retirement from the State.
Known to family and friends as Butch, he lived in Bennington, VT during his childhood years then moved to Brunswick. From then on, he was a proud, lifelong resident of Brunswick. He was very active in the community and was a longtime member of the Kiwanis and Brunswick Little League where he served many roles including as Treasurer and President. He also spent many years coaching youth sports like CYO basketball, football, and softball. His children played many sports growing up, and despite his many work commitments, he almost never missed a game or even a practice; a tradition he continued with his grandchildren.
Butch loved many of life's simple pleasures: gardening, feeding the birds, watching sports (especially the St. Louis Cardinals, the Indianapolis Colts and the Siena Saints), going to local concerts, baking delicious pies, the 4th of July fireworks display in Albany, a day at the Saratoga Racetrack, playing cards (especially Rummy 500), eating at the Red Front, weekly visits to Bella Napoli, and spending time with his beloved family.
Calling hours will be held at Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home in Raymertown (2237 NY Route 7
Troy, NY 12180) on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm with a memorial service immediately following at the same location.
