
Troy- Sharon A. (Hewitt) Maxon, 77, a lifelong resident of Brunswick, died unexpectedly, Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with her family by her side following a short illness.
Born in Albany, Sharon is the daughter of the late Wilbur and H. Marguerite (Houser) Hewitt, sister of the late Raymond Hewitt, and the wife and best friend of Paul J. Maxon of Brunswick who survives. Sharon and Paul were married on September 28, 1968.
Sharon was a graduate of Tamarac High School and attended Cobleskill Community College before her marriage and establishing her home.
After raising her family, Sharon accepted a position as the Accounts Payable Clerk at the Brittonkill (Brunswick) Central School District office. After more than 19 years of service she retired in 2009.
Sharon was a member of Gilead Lutheran Church, where as a girl she sang in the church choir and later was the Church Secretary.
Sharon was her grandsons, Dillon and Dalton’s number one baseball fan, supporting them by attending their games as close as a home game at Tamarac or road tripping and traveling to games in Virginia to cheer them on. Sharon was “Grandma” to everyone on the baseball team.
In addition to supporting her grandsons, Sharon was an avid “Mike Mahaney, (Race Team #35) race fan. She never missed watching Mike’s racing in Dirt Track Modifieds in person or on television.
In addition to her husband, Paul, Sharon is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Sandy Maxon all of Brunswick, four grandchildren; Dalton and Dillon Maxon, Kyle Dobert and Jessikka Kreutziger, five great-grandchildren, Finnigan, Caden and Maddix Dobert, Jay III and Maddisyn Kreutziger, a brother and sister-in law, Kenneth and Peggy Hewitt of Brunswick, several nieces and nephews, and her special friend and best pet, Turner.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown with Rev. Greg Nitz, Chaplain of Finish Line Ministries, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday afternoon from 3:00-6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Private burial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
