Brunswick- Wayne Adams Howe, 74, a longtime resident of Brunswick, passed away peacefully Friday, May 16, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with his wife, Bonnie, his sons, Ben and Adam, and his brother, Ned, by his side, following a long illness.
Born in Troy June 1, 1950, Wayne was the son of the late Frank Edson Howe and Doris Idell (Adams) Howe and, for over 49 years, the devoted husband of Bonnie J. (Tate) Howe of Brunswick, who survives. Wayne and Bonnie were married in Raymertown May 25, 1975.
As a boy, Wayne attended Tamarac School and later graduated from Albany Academy, where he was a standout scholar and athlete, especially in the sports of football and basketball. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Health Administration from SUNY Cortland, where he played Division 1 Basketball, and earned a Master of Business Degree from RPI in Troy.
After his marriage, Wayne worked for several years as an administrator at Albany Medical Center before moving to Cortland upon accepting the position of Director of Mental Health Services for Cortland County. After five years in Cortland, he and Bonnie and their soon to be expanding family, returned to Brunswick. He established his home and assisted his late father, Frank, and his uncle, the late Jack Howe, as a salesman and later as president of Howe Brothers Incorporated. He became the third generation to own and operate the family’s Brunswick manufacturing business. Under his leadership, Howe Brothers grew in scope of its products from a municipal equipment manufacturing company to the sales and installation of dump, service, and platform truck bodies, commercial and residential lawncare and snow plows and equipment, and the manufacturing of utility trailers. For over 45 years, Wayne has been an instrumental part in the growth of the company customer base and regional sales area with his honesty and fairness with customers and vendors alike.

Always an incredibly polite man, Wayne’s life and business ethics come as no surprise and can be traced back to his upbringing and a proud moment when he earned his Eagle Scout Award as a member of the Brunswick Boy Scout Troop #537. Wayne was an avid Boston Celtics fan, enjoyed watching the NY Yankees, and attended several games each year with his family at both the Boston Garden and Yankee Stadium. He worked hard to stay in shape and keep up with his boys and their friends. He liked all sports and worked out and played pickup basketball at the Troy “Y,” where he was a member and on the board of directors. For many years, he coached CYO Basketball and Brunswick Little League Baseball teams. In his quiet time, he loved camping with Bonnie and the family at York Beach, Maine, and Turning Stone in Oneida. He was an easy going, unassuming guy, as well as a good golfer, who had to be convinced by his son who witnessed that he had scored a hole in one on a blind hole at the former Brunswick Greens Golf Course.
