Brunswick- Audrey J. (Bonesteel) Hayner 70, a lifelong resident of Brunswick died peacefully, Thursday, April 7, 2022 at her residence with her family by her side, following a short illness.
Born in Troy, August 16, 1951, Audrey was the daughter of the late Willard E. and Iva (Brust) Bonesteel and for over 51 years the beloved wife of Robert J. Hayner Jr. of Brunswick who survives. Audrey and Bob were married at The White Church in Brunswick, on February13, 1970.
She attended the local district school and was a graduate of Tamarac High School, Class of 1969.
As a young woman she worked at the former Nuremburg’s Clothier in North Troy and the former J.L. Thompson Co. in Troy. More recently she has been employed for over 40 years as an administrative assistant at Rensselaer Institute in Troy. She retired in 2015.
Mrs. Hayner was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Raymertown.
Audrey loved kids. In her quiet time, she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and several of her neighbors’ children as a way to help out their parents. She was an avid video game player and especially liked to play “Candy Crush” on her cell phone. She enjoyed camping with her family, owned an extensive Boyd’s Bears collection, loved the color purple and sorely missed watching her afternoon soap opera, Days of Our Lives, with her late father.
In addition to her husband, Bob, Audrey is survived by her son, Rob A. Hayner, her daughter and son-in-law, Darcy L. and Daniel Wilson, three grandchildren, Bryce Hayner, Riley Hayner and Sawyer Wilson and a beloved great grandson, Carson E. Hayner, all of Wynantskill, a maternal aunt, Beryl Krogh of Brunswick, a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Linda Bonesteel of Brunswick, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and Sue Hayner of Brunswick, a sister-in-law, Robin Hayner of Latham and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service for Audrey will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown with Rev. Jeff Silvernail officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Raymertown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and encouraged to wear a splash of purple in memory of Audrey.
