Albany- Barbara J. (Doyle) Parlapiano, a longtime resident of Stephentown, died peacefully Thursday, December 12, 2019, at the Albany Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Born in Niskayuna, NY, December 5, 1955, Barbara was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Geraldine J. (Fitzgerald) Doyle, and for over 42 years, the beloved wife of Steven A. Parlapiano of Stephentown, who survives.
Barbara was a graduate of the former Linton High School in Schenectady and attended Siena College in Loudonville.
After her marriage to Steven and raising her four children, she was employed for over 15 years as an administrative assistant at the Optometrist Office of Joseph Hashim in Pittsfield, MA.
Barbara was a former member of the Stephentown Youth Commission and Ski Club Director. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the NY Giants and enjoyed making her weekly football picks with her grandchildren. She was a huge supporter of her children’s sporting activities and her husband’s coaching endeavors, taking countless road trips to games throughout the northeast in all four seasons. Barbara was proud of her “Irish” heritage. Barbara’s greatest joy and priority was always her husband, children, and grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart.
In addition to her husband, Steven, Barbara is survived by her children, Carly Parlapiano-Maxon of Stephentown, Robert (Jennifer) Parlapiano of Pittsfield, MA, Sean (Jocelyn) Parlapiano and Kevin Parlapiano, all of Denver, CO, her five grandchildren, Chase and Cale Maxon, Cloey and Lexi Parlapiano, Emerson Parlapiano, and a “little miss” on the way, two sisters, Leslie (George) Casey and Bridget (Dave) Denofio, all of Niskayuna, a brother, Terrance “Terry” Doyle of Schenectady, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brother Timm and an infant sister.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held Thursday, December 19, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mausoleum in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy. At the family request there will be no public calling but rather a celebration of her life following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children in memory of Barbara J. Parlapiano.
The Parlapiano family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Neurosciences-EMU at Albany Medical Center for their love, support, and dignity shown to them and Barb while she was under their excellent care. And, a special thanks to the Stephentown Rescue Squad for their rapid and professional response to our call.
