Eagle Mills- Barbara J. (Wagar) Hewitt, 84, a lifelong resident of Brunswick, died peacefully at home surrounded by family Monday, June 7, 2021.
Born in Eagle Mills, August 16, 1936, Barbara was the daughter of the late Marsh and Bernice Wagar. In her youth she worked alongside her father at “Wagar’s Market and Butcher Shop.” Barbara attended the Garfield District School in Eagle Mills and later graduated from Troy High School.
Sixty-five years ago she married the love of her life, Raymond Hewitt “Pa”, who predeceased her in 2000. Together they built their home and raised their family. Barbara and Ray enjoyed 4-H, snowmobiling, and watching the stock car races at Lebanon Valley Speedway to cheer on their nephew, John.
Barbara had many hobbies, including sewing, gardening, cooking, watching soap operas, and enjoying time with her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her siblings, Ronald Wagar and Phyllis and Tom Rooney, her children, Kim Beaudoin, and Mark and Linda Hewitt, her grandchildren, Travis Farnam and Sarah Yule-Farnam, Brian II and Ashley Beaudoin and Todd Farnam, and three great-grandchildren, Dallas Hewitt, and Cooper and Cole Beaudoin.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY-7, located in Raymertown with Rev. Dave Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Eagle Mills Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
