Johnsonville- Brian M. Qua, 55, of Johnsonville, died peacefully Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his residence following a brief illness.
Born in Troy, May 19, 1962, Brian was the son of Richard and Rose (Esposito) Qua of Melrose and the best friend to his longtime companion and girlfriend, Lisa Gerow of Johnsonville.
Brian attended Tamarac High School and earned a G.E.D. later in life after leaving school early to help support his family and establish himself as a young adult.
For over 35 years he worked in the field of construction for several area firms including the former Matzen Construction of Raymertown, Plank Construction Services in Schenectady and most recently as a crew supervisor for Bonaquisti Brothers Construction of Cohoes.
Brian was an avid outdoorsman and a longtime member of the Green Island Rod and Gun Club in Schaghticoke. He enjoyed hunting with his bow and rifle as well as fishing and hiking. He liked to tinker and performed repair and maintenance work on his daughter’s and his own cars and trucks. In his quiet time he would de-stress through his hobbies of raising pheasants, working in his beautiful flower gardens, home brewing his favorite beers and grilling in his back yard.
In addition to his parents and Lisa, Brian is survived by his two beloved daughters, Kristin M. Qua of Valley Falls and Caitlin A. Qua of Albany, two sisters and a brother, Leslie Sheldon and Kelley Wallace, both of Brunswick and Paul Qua of Johnsonville, his friend and mother of his daughters, Debra Qua of Valley Falls, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, the late Jonathan P. Qua.
A memorial service celebrating Brian’s life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 12:15 P.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family later this Spring. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until Noon, prior to the service.
