Brunswick- Catherine C. “Kitty” Jensen, a longtime resident of Brunswick, died peacefully, Saturday, March 4, 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Troy, December 1, 1941, and raised in Schaghticoke, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Muriel (Bell) Herrington and for over 53 years the wife of the late Donald Jensen, who predeceased her in November 2015.
Kitty was a graduate of Hoosic Valley High School.
For over 30 years, she was employed as a mail room clerk by the New York State Department of Health in Albany. She retired in 2005.
In addition to raising her children and managing her home, she enjoyed working the large vegetable garden she and her husband tilled in their backyard. Together, she and her husband canned many of the vegetables they grew and made spaghetti sauce with her family to share or to store for future use. She loved to bowl in the Saturday Night Mixed League at Highway Bowl in Wynantskill with her late husband and family and rooted enthusiastically for the New York Mets. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, Kitty was very strong in her faith and enjoyed reading “Upper Room” books and Bible passages and is now flying high with God and her loved ones. She loved her pets and enjoyed the company of her golden retrievers and several cats through the years. Kitty was an amazing cook and baker and famous to her family for her baked beans and delicious apple pies.
Kitty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Richard Wark Jr. of Brunswick, a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Joann Jensen of Graysville, TN, a sister, Muriel Chestnut, a brother, James Herrington, three sisters-in-law, Margie Herrington, Sharon Jensen, and Norma Fletcher, eight grandchildren, Richard Wark III, Kristopher Wark, Bethanie Wark, Joyce-Lynn Jensen, Mitchell Jensen, Arielle Ooms, Megan Ooms, and Katelyn Ooms, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and late husband, she was predeceased by her stepson, Kenneth Jensen, her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Ryan, and several brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. A funeral service for Kitty will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke.
