Pittstown- Charles F. “Charlie” Deakin, 84, a long time resident of Boyntonville, died peacefully, Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the Hoosick Falls Health Center following a short illness.
Born in New York City, April 29, 1931, Mr. Deakin was the son of the late John J. and Florence Mae (Neill) Deakin.
After his parents moved from New York City to North Petersburgh, Charles attended the North Petersburgh District School.
Through his adult life, Charles worked as a dairy farmer, a truck driver and most recently as a rural area newspaper deliveryman covering several routes each day including the Towns of Pittstown, Hoosick and Petersburgh. Mr. Deakin retired in 2007.
Mr. Deakin was a former member of the Pittstown Volunteer Fire Company. In his quiet time enjoyed woodworking and created many crafts for family and friends, including his specialty, birdhouses and custom cutting boards.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters, the late Leonard Deakin, John “Jack” Deakin, Gertrude Butler, Louise Brock, Dorothy Durkee and Gladys Styno. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins,
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. Gaylord Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Warren Cemetery in Boyntonville. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until noon, prior to the service.
