Brunswick- Christine A. (Powley) Boomhower, 75, a longtime resident of Brunswick, died peacefully, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at her home following a short illness, with her devoted husband by her side.
Born in Troy, October 2, 1946, she was the daughter of the late George and Lucille (Kirchner) Powley and the wife for over 31 years of Thomas M. Boomhower of Brunswick who survives. Christine and Tom were married September 8, 1990.
Raised and educated in Troy, she was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1964.
Christine was employed as a nurse’s aide by several area facilities including Community Health Care of Green Island and the Manes House in Bennington, VT. After more than 30 years of caring for the elderly and those in need of in-home assistance, she retired in 2008.
In her quiet time, she enjoyed collecting and maintaining her extensive collection of plush toys and a yearly trip to Boyd’s Bears Country in Gettysburg, PA. She also enjoyed vacationing in the summer to the coast of Maine.
In addition to her husband, Tom, her survivors include her daughter, Heather Uline of Vermont, and two sons, Anthony Salvi of Schenectady and Douglas Salvi of Wilton, two sisters and a brother, Heidi (the late Joseph) Doty of Waterford, George and Barbara Powley of Valley Falls and Gretchen Scheilding of Florida, and three grandchildren, Michelle, Alexa and Isabella.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc., located at 2237 NY Route 7, in Raymertown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. Burial in Eagle Mills Cemetery in Brunswick will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
