Brunswick-Cody N. Bruns, 27, a lifelong resident of Brunswick, died peacefully Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Albany Medical Center Hospital following a long battle with cancer with his loving and devoted family by his side.
Born in Troy, September 9, 1995, Cody is the son of Daniel F. Bruns of Brunswick and Joann (Sass) Hawver and James McDermott of Eagle Mills, who survive.
Cody was a graduate of Tamarac High School, Class of 2012.
For several years, Cody was employed as an assembly line production worker by the Inova Manufacturing Company in Guilderland making Murphy beds that the company would sell to the Disney Corporation for installation in their hotels worldwide. He also assisted his longtime friend and “running mate,” Dean, in the operation of Dean’s auctioneering business that took them on many adventures, including several road trips as far as Louisiana.
Cody was an excellent athlete and was a member of the Troy Patriots Pop Warner Football Team and the Brunswick Soccer Club. He was always ready to play any sport, especially street basketball, and loved to watch sports of all kinds. In his quiet time, of which there was little, he liked to play X-Box with his family and friends or enjoy a peaceful moment with his pet cat. Most recently, Cody had taken up the hobby of motorcycle riding and enjoyed spending time learning to ride his high performance Honda motorcycle.
In addition to his father, mother, and step dad, Cody is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Brendan Horn of Melrose, and his brother, Daniel F. Bruns Jr. of Brunswick, a much adored nephew and two nieces, who called him “Uncy,” Rylie Horn, Makenna Horn, and Malania Horn, all of Melrose.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown. Cody’s funeral service and burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Volunteer Fire Company of Center Brunswick, 1045 Hoosick Road, Troy, NY 12180, in memory of Cody Nicholas Bruns.
