Melrose- Deborah A. (Michaels) Kennison, 56, a former Schaghticoke resident for over 20 years and more recently Melrose, died peacefully, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at her Route 40 residence with her loving family by her side, following a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Cohoes, July 16, 1962, Deborah was the daughter of the late Flora (Hoag) Michaels and the good friend of Robert Cross Jr. of Schaghticoke with whom she shares three beautiful children.
Deborah was a graduate of Berlin Central High School.
For many years she left the work force to perform her most important career of raising her three children. She later re-entered the job market and was employed as a clerk for the CVS Company, working from the Clifton Park store for a short time. She retired for health related reasons in 2005.
Deborah was a “social butterfly” and loved to be “in the loop” with her family and friends. She enjoyed the hobbies of crocheting and needlecrafts, loved her pet cat, Sam and joked about being a horrible gardener.
In addition to Mr. Cross Jr., her survivors include her two daughters, Felicia Kennison of Melrose and her fiance, Don Marcello, and Elizabeth Cross of Cohoes, a son, Robert Cross III of Brunswick, a sister, Brenda Cruse of Green Island, a brother, John Michaels of North Carolina and her beloved grand-daughter, Leah Roseboom.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., located at 2237 New York Route 7, in Raymertown. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 4:00 – 6:45 P.M. prior to the memorial service.
Memorial contributions if desired may be made to Community Hospice 315 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208 in memory of Deborah A. Michaels Kennison.
