Pittstown- Eleanor M. (Harris) Beardsley, 82, a long time resident of Pittstown, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Monday, April 11, 2016, at St Mary’s Hospital in Troy, following a short illness.
Born in Troy, June 21, 1933, Elly was the daughter of the late James and Frances (Evans) Harris, step-daughter of the late Marion (Brown) Harris and the wife of the late Gary D. Beardsley.
Mrs. Beardsley was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and for over 30 years employed as a clerk in the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Bureau in Albany. She retired in the mid 1990’s.
She was a member of the Pittstown United Methodist Church, served as Treasurer of the United Methodist Women’s Group for many years and participated in the Pittstown Seniors. Elly loved to sew, read, square dance and go camping, but the joy of her life was to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, DaleMarie (Brian) Mull, Deborah Loe, Brian (Kathy) Harbour, Bruce (Libby) Harbour, Wayne (Pamela) Harbour, William (Therese) Harbour, Dennis (Erika) Beardsley, Carl (Diane) Beardsley, Joan (Bruce) Martelle, daughter-in-law Cheryl Harbour, three brothers and a sister, Gerald (Vivian) Harris, Leonard (Joanne) Harris, Cathy Fosby and Daniel Harris, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Robert (Cheryl) Harbour, two brothers, Richard Harris, James Harris and a sister, Frances Washock.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 10:00 A.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 15th from 4:00-7:00 P.M.
At the request of the family, memorial contributions rather than floral gifts may by made to the Pittstown United Methodist Church, 45 Old Route 7, Valley Falls, NY 12185 or to the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps., 60 Parker School Road, Johnsonville, NY 12094 in memory of Eleanor M. Beardsley.
