Saratoga Springs- Ella H. (Thurber) Shaver, 91, a longtime resident of Gansevoort and more recently Saratoga Springs, died peacefully Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs following a short illness.
Born in Greenwich, February 24, 1929, she was the daughter of the late “J” Albert J. and Emma May (Quackenbush) Thurber and for many years the wife of the late Donald F. Shaver.
Mrs. Shaver was employed for many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the former High Gate Nursing Home in Lansingburgh. She retired in the 1990’s.
In retirement Mrs. Shaver enjoyed traveling and going on several cruises with her daughters and family. She enjoyed the hobby of solving jigsaw puzzles and liked to go for a ride to get an ice cream cone.
Mrs. Shaver is survived by a daughter and two sons-in-law, JoAnn and Richard Kupferman of Rock City Falls and Greg Schultz of Gansevoort, a grandson, Jacob Kupferman of Ballston Spa, two nieces, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and late husband, she was predeceased by a beloved daughter, the late Mary Ellen Schultz.
At Mrs. Shaver’s request, a private graveside funeral service was held Monday, January 11, 2021, at the Eagle Mills Cemetery in Brunswick. There was no public visitation.
