Brunswick- Genevieve C. “Carole” Lockrow, 81, a resident of Tamarac for over 52 years and more recently Haynersville, died peacefully, Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
Born in Troy, July 4, 1941, Carole was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Genevieve Mary (Ross) Renaud and, for many years, the wife of the late Robert F. Lockrow.
Carole was educated in Troy City Schools.
As a young woman, she was employed as a nurse’s aide at Samaritan Hospital and worked as a private duty nurse.
More recently, she was employed by Troy City Schools, where she worked as a teacher’s aide. After more than 25 years of years of service, she retired in the early 2000s.
Carole was incredibly devoted to her Catholic faith. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Sycaway after the closure of St. George’s Church in Pittstown and St. John Francis Regis Church in Grafton.
In addition to enjoying family gatherings and outings, Carole enjoyed camping, especially at Whispering Pines and Deer Run Campgrounds. She loved to stop at every garage sale, had QVC on her speed dial, baked amazing apple pies, and was the fastest woman snowmobiler in the area. Carole loved racing of all types and, at one time, drag raced and defeated the late Schenectady native and well known NHRA drag racer, Shirley Muldowney. Among all her hobbies, her foremost enjoyment was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, of whom she was so very proud.
Carole is survived by her children, Robert J. “Bobby” (Fran) Lockrow of Brunswick, Douglas S. Lockrow Sr. of Troy, Tammie M. Lockrow (Ed Kreiger) of Brunswick, Brett T. “Terry” Lockrow and Dwane T. (Liza) Lockrow, of Stillwater, Joseph L. Lockrow Sr. of Brunswick, TaraLynn Mainville (Aram Margosian) of Brunswick, Daryl T. (Holly) Lockrow of Brunswick, and Linda A. Lockrow of Brunswick, a sister, Linda A. Renaud of Brunswick, a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Terry and Alba Lockrow of Brunswick and Helen Lockrow of Kingston, 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and her canine friend and companion, “Taffy.” Carole was predeceased by a beloved niece, Robin L. Bailey.
Relatives and friends are invited to wear a splash of red and/or black, (Carole’s favorite colors) and call at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown on Monday, March 6, 2023, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Resurrection for Carole will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. by Fr. Pat Rice at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 43 Brookside Avenue, in Wynantskill. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy. Family and friends are invited to gather after the burial at the Gilead Lutheran Church in Brunswick for a light reception in honor of Carole.

The Lockrow family wishes to extend a warm and heartfelt thank you to both Dana Tooley and Danielle Jacques for their amazing skill as caregivers and love and support of Carole while she was under their care.
