Brunswick- Gill Edward Roscoe, 63, a lifelong resident of Brunswick, died peacefully Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy following a long illness.
Born in Troy, March 8, 1957, Gill was the son of the late Hubert and Eleanor (Hayner) Roscoe and the brother of the late Gerard Roscoe, all formerly of Brunswick.
Gill was a graduate of Tamarac High School.
For over 25 years he was employed as a heavy truck mechanic working for the Tire Center Inc. of Albany. More recently he had been employed for over 13 years as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Brunswick Highway Department. He retired in 2016.
Gill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed snow skiing, hunting, fishing, and scuba diving. He loved to ride motorcycles in the summer and go snowmobiling with his friends in the winter.
He was a member of the Stateline Riders Motorcycle Group in Grafton and the Brunswick Sportsman’s Club in Cropseyville.
Gill is survived by his sister-in-law, Deborah Roscoe of Colonie, a nephew and his wife, Graham Roscoe and Tatiana Gott of Brooklyn, a niece and her husband, Gretchen and Tony DiCocco of Glenville, two great nieces and a great nephew, Fridha Roscoe, Lucy DiCocco, and Antonio DiCocco. Gill is also survived by several “partners in crime,” Chuck, Eddie, and Bill, whom the family wishes to thank for their extraordinary friendship and companionship with Gill for many, many years.
A funeral service for Gill will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. Burial will take place in Eagle Mills Cemetery in Brunswick later this spring. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Proper facial coverings and social distancing in accordance with the current NYS COVID-19 guidelines will be required.
Memorial contributions, at the request of Gill’s family, may be made to the Brunswick Sportsman’s Club, 78 Brunswick Sportsman’s Club Road, Cropseyville, NY 12052, in memory of Gill E. Roscoe.
