Eagle Mills- Harold F. Dunham, 90, a life long farmer and longtime resident of Eagle Mills, died peacefully Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at home with his family by his side.
Born in Eagle Mills he was the son of the late Willis and Louise (Hoffay) Dunham Sr. and for over 57 years the husband of the late Theresa A. (Mittelsted) Dunham who predeceased him in 2010. Harold and Theresa were married on May 10, 1953.
Mr. Dunham was a dairyman until 1957 when he accepted a position as a salesman at Troy Belting and Supply Company. He retired after 30 years of service and continued to work on his own farm along with working at Herrington Farms.
In 1957 he joined the Eagle Mills Volunteer Fire Company and held many offices including Fire Chief from 1962-1966 and served as a District Fire Commissioner for many years.
Harold enjoyed taking many motorcycle trips with his wife and friends. He was very proud of and enjoyed working in his extensive vegetable garden and loved meeting his friends at Duncan’s Dairy Bar every morning for coffee.
Mr. Dunham is survived by a son and three daughters, Jeffrey D. Dunham of Eagle Mills, Linda T. (Don) Hughes of Poestenkill. Tracy A. (Bill) Broderick of Eagle Mills and Lisa M. (Eric) Buckley of Cropseyville, a brother, Robert Dunham of California, a sister, Marion Dobert of Latham, seven grandchildren, Balee Dunham, Jenna (George) Brooks, Justin Hughes, Jake Broderick, Ryan Broderick, Zachary Buckley and Abigail Buckley, two great-grandchildren, Colton Brooks and Camden Brooks and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was also predeceased by a brother, Willis Dunham Jr. and two sisters, Elizabeth Oswald and Ethel Van Buren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown. Burial will follow in the Eagle Mills Cemetery in Brunswick. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 30th from 4:00-7:00 P.M.
