Pittstown- Howard James Weeks Jr. (“Buddy”), 69, of State Route 7, died peacefully, Saturday morning, October 11, 2014, at his residence with his loving wife and devoted family by his side following a long illness.
Born December 12, 1944 in Floral Park, Long Island, Howie was the son of the late Howard J. and Charlotte (Miller) Weeks Sr. and for over 36 wonderful years, the husband of Kathy (Coleman) Weeks of Pittstown who survives. Howie and Kathy were married on March 16, 1978.
After spending over 40 years living and working on Long Island, in 1985, Howie moved to the Pittstown area where he found employment that would let him further his love of an automotive career and the outdoors. For over 30 years, he was employed as a “Ford” auto mechanic working for several dealerships including Jack Byrnes Ford in Mechanicville, Latham Ford in Latham and the former Haynes Ford in Hoosick Falls. More recently, he had been employed at the former Alpin House RV Sales in Clifton Park and for the past several years, as a salesman for Upstate Auto Sales of Pittstown, while at the same time working at Real Estate Mart of Pittstown as a real estate salesman. After a
40+ year career of doing what he loved in the automotive field and sales, he retired due to his illness this past January.
Howie was an avid outdoorsman and loved to live in the country were he enjoyed camping, fishing and boating in Lake George and the Hudson River, hunting and riding motorcycles, but also knew how to give back to the community through his service as a former EMT and past President of the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps. Howie was also a true animal lover, who had many dogs, cats and other animals throughout his life.
In addition to his loving wife, Kathy, Howie is survived by his five children, Howie III of Long Island (including grandchildren Howie IV (including great-grandchild Brady), Jennifer, Michael, Jonathan, Timothy and Richie), Donna and husband, Alan, of Malta, Salvatore (including grandchildren Anthony and Justin), Neal and wife, Linda, of Myrtle Beach (including grandchildren Jesse, Valerie, Ryan and Matthew), Kim Marie of Hoosick Falls (including grandchildren Tommy, Aiden, Liam and Sophia), two sisters, May (brother-in-law Jimmy) and Edna “Skeeter” (brother-in-law Bob) of Long Island, a brother-in-law, Kevin, of Long Island, his first wife Linda (mother of three of his children - Howie III, Donna and Neal), nieces, nephews and friends. Howie will also be missed by his dog “Baby.”
A memorial service celebrating Howie’s life is being planned and will be held at a future date and time convenient to his family and friends.
Memorial contributions at the request of the family may be made to Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144, who through their assistance, helped Howie pass his last days at his family home with peace and dignity.
