Raymertown- Irene C. (Krogh) Potter, 87, a lifelong resident of Pittstown, died peacefully, Monday, October 12, 2015, at the residence of her daughter, following a short illness.
Born in Pittstown, September 19, 1928, Mrs. Potter was the daughter of the late William and Clara (Humphrey) Krogh and for over 28 years the wife of the late Harold Potter who predeceased her in 1985.
Mrs. Potter attended the Haynersville District School and Lansingburgh High School.
As a young woman she worked for several years for the former Wager Bus Company in Troy and as a bookkeeper at the former Hendrick Hudson Hotel also in Troy. More recently she has been a homemaker and assisted on the family farm. She enjoyed raising her children, caring for her husband and mother-in-law, Martha S. Potter.
Mrs. Potter was a former member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Raymertown and in her quiet time due to her vision problems enjoyed listening to the radio and the television, diligently read the newspaper with her magnifying glass everyday, and loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Potter is survived by her children, Helen Potter and Robert Nelson of Brunswick, Linda and Timothy Vesce of N. Fort Meyers, FL, Marjorie Starin of Raymertown and Donna and Christopher Kirk of Voorheesville, two brothers and sisters-in-law,
Earl and Carol Krogh of Snyder’s Lake and Elmer and Kathy Krogh of Scotia, grandchildren, Kristie Nelson of New York City, David and Melissa Starin of Hudson, NH, Lisa Starin of Raymertown, and Christopher Kirk and Brendan Kirk both of Voorheesville, a great-granddaughter and namesake, Ella Irene Starin of Hudson, NH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Potter was predeceased by a brother, the late Harold Krogh.
A funeral service for Mrs. Potter will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, October 16th from 4:00-7:00 P.M.
