
Raymertown- Isabelle (Shampine) Lewis, 90, a longtime resident of Pittstown, died peacefully Monday, April 5, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family following a short illness.
Born in Antwerp (Jefferson County) December 18, 1930, Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late Alfred C. and Inez (Schwartzfigure) Shampine and, for over 65 years, the wife of the late William E. Lewis, who predeceased her on February 25, 2015.
Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of Goveneur High School.
Mrs. Lewis was a wonderful mother and homemaker to her family. She enjoyed her family and playing cards in her home overlooking the Tomhannock Reservoir. Additionally, she was employed for 10 years at the former Grand Union Supermarket warehouse in Waterford and later as a nurses aide for seven years at the Geriatric Center in Troy. She retired in July 1996.
In addition to enjoying spending time visiting with her family and friends, she was an avid reader.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by eight children and their spouses, Deborah and Richard Hudson of Brunswick, Robert and Sandra Lewis Sr., Brad and Gail Lewis, and Deacon Brian Lewis, all of Raymertown, Denise Plumadore of Eagle Mills, Barry Lewis of Brunswick, Shirley and Jeff Pincher of Ramsey, NJ, and Christopher Lewis of Raymertown, ten grandchildren, Susan Hudson Fredette and Michael Fredette, Richard Hudson, Carolyn Hudson and Ray Mountain, Robert and Amy Lewis Jr., Alicia Lewis Waring and Andrew Waring, Michael Pincher, Jennifer and Andrew Hogan, Douglas Pincher, Nicole Pincher, and Zachary Lewis, four great-grandchildren, Rebecca Fredette, Riley Mountain, Evan Lewis, and Clare Lewis, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters, a son, William E. Lewis Jr., a son-in-law, Thomas Plumadore.
A private funeral service will be held Monday, April 12, 2021, at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2237 NY-7, located in Raymertown, at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, April, 9, 2021, from 3:00-600 p.m. following current NYS COVID-19 guidelines for wearing of facemasks and proper social distancing.
