Brunswick- Jeannette G. (Engquist) Jacques, 99, a resident of Haynersville for over 64 years, died peacefully Monday morning, November 20, 2023, in the comfort of her home with family by her side following a short illness.
Born in Troy, March 5, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Jeannette (Hinnant) Engquist and, for over 75 years, the devoted wife of the late George W. Jacques, who predeceased her November 19, 2021.
Jeannette was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1942. Following her marriage to George, she worked in the Drafting Department at the Watervliet Arsenal while he was serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
A wonderful homemaker for many years, Jeannette enjoyed raising her family and caring for her husband and the Haynersville home they built together. For many years, she assisted her late husband in the operation of Terrace Haven Mobile Home Park and the former Outing Shop, a mobile home sales, camping, and RV equipment and accessories company, adjacent to their Town of Brunswick home.
Jeannette was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Hoosick, the VFW Sullivan-Jones Post #7466 Ladies Auxiliary in Poestenkill, the Eastern Star-Phoenix Lodge, and the Brunswick Historical Society. In her quiet time, she enjoyed visiting with family and friends and watching the many birds that she fed in her backyard.
Jeannette is survived by two daughters and a son, Janice (Timothy) Holt Sr. of Haynersville, Cindy L. Premo and longtime partner, Louis Little, of Chestertown, and Ronald S. Jacques of Potter Hill, four grandsons, Timothy (Lynda) Holt Jr., Shawn (Kim Winkler) Holt, Christopher (Samantha) Jacques, and Russell (Tina) Jacques, nine great-grandchildren, Jesse M. Holt, Lauren A. Holt, Lindsey M. Milne, Lucas D. Jacques, Joseph G. Jacques, Emily Jacques, Katie Jacques, Jacob Holt, and Nathan Holt, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son and two-daughters-in law, Leslie G. and Linda Jacques and Becky Jacques.
At Jeannette’s request, funeral services and burial at Hoosick Rural Cemetery will be private at the convenience of her family. There will be no public calling.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Berkshire Bird Paradise, (a nonprofit organization caring for and rehabilitating injured birds,) at 43 Red Pond Road, Petersburgh, NY 12138, in memory of Jeannette G. Jacques.
