Pittstown- Jerome J. “Speedy” Curley, 83, a longtime resident of Cushman Road and more recently Heritage House in Troy, died peacefully, Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Albany Medical Center following a long illness, with his family by his side.
Born in Troy, June 30, 1931, Mr. Curley was the son of the late John L. and Margaret (Denny) Curley Sr. and for over 47 years the husband of Luella M. (Lang) Curley of Pittstown who survives. Jerome and Luella were married in Raymertown on February 18, 1967.
Mr. Curley attended Catholic grammar schools in Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School.
In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict with the 1610th Air Base Squadron. He was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class in April 1955.
For 28 years he was employed as a production worker by Norton Company in Watervliet and retired in 1993.
An outdoorsman throughout his lifetime, Mr. Curley enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert T. Curley of Melrose, two brothers, John Curley of California and Dennis (B. Diane) Curley of Clifton Park, a niece and two nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3. 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. Burial will follow in Eagle Mills Cemetery in Brunswick.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 P.M.
