Brunswick, NY- John E Hesen Jr(Jack), 88, of East Hampton, CT died on Monday January 11, 2021 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Brunswick, NY. Jack was born on January 19 1932 in Keyser WV, son of the late John Edward and Beulah Virginia Hesen.
Jack was married to the first love of his life, Betty Spillman Hesen, of Longmeadow, MA. who predeceased him in 1993. He was also predeceased by his son John Spillman Hesen of Springfield MA., and his sister-in-law Ruth Caroline Spillman of Bronxville, NY. He is survived by his two daughters; Kerry A. Castracane(Thomas) of Clinton, CT and Nancy H. Trzcinski(John) of Brunswick, NY. He is also survived by a lifelong member of the family, Wanda Flickinger of Bronxville, NY. Jack spent the last many years with the second love of his life, Virginia M. Foley of East Hampton, CT.
Jack is also survived by five grandchildren; Jessyca Castracane Bontrager(Tyler), Kyle J. Castracane, Nathan C. Castracane, Amanda Trzcinski Zick(Matthew) and Matthew A. Trzcinski (Lauren). He has three great grandchildren Sarah Rose Zick, Elizabeth Ruth Zick and Sevro Augustus Bontrager.
Jack served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He worked for a number of American Corporations; Owens-Corning Fiberglass at Ashton-Mill, RI., The Hamilton Standard Division of United Technology Corporation at Windsor Locks, CT., as an engineer and Bay Path University, Longmeadow MA., as it's Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. He also taught management and marketing courses at a number of colleges. The last, at Capital Community College in Hartford CT.
Jack graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from West Virginia University at Morgantown, WV in 1955. He received a Masters in Business Administration from Western New England University in Springfield, MA in 1969.
Jack chose to be cremated and his ashes will be interred at the Gerald B. H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery on April 9, 2021 at 1pm. The family will have a memorial gathering at one of his favorite restaurants, The Dublin Jin East Hampton, CT on June 13, from 12pm-2pm.
