John Francis Angus, 53, of Pittstown, New York, passed away on April 30, 2024, after a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and numerous friends. John, also affectionately known as "Agnes," was born on June 2, 1970, in West Sand Lake, New York, at the home of his proud grandparents.
John was a graduate of St. Mary's of Hoosick Falls and Tamarac High School in Brunswick. His skills at carpentry and woodworking became evident from a very young age and sustained him throughout most of his life. He will be remembered for his kindness and warm spirit, but most of all, for his sense of humor. With John, there was never a dull moment, whether at work or at family functions. He was often heard accurately reciting lines from various movie scripts, such as "Full Metal Jacket," or doing impressions of various family members. He loved Mopar muscle cars, NASCAR, model building, kayaking, and, of course, a good beer.
John is survived by his children, John Paul and Alyssa,agrandaughter, Amelia Henderson, sisters, Freddie-Ann (DeCelle) Vogel (Raymond Jr.), Jo-Ann Valenti, Kathleen Ann Valenti, Lorie Marie Filuta (Darren Sedgwick), and Jeannette Torres (Miguel), and beloved sister-in-law, Michelle C. Valenti, brothers, James Michael Valenti (Madonna) and Barry Charles Angus (Lisa), nieces and nephews, who thought of him more as a brother than an uncle, Cynthia Loszynski, Krystyna Reynoza (Andres), Jessyca Loszynski, Mary Elizabeth Sedgwick, ChrisDe Noel Perez (Jonathan), Sarah Lynn Schofield, Daniella Requate, Katelyn Filuta, Nicole Biddle, Shannon Jackson, Nicole Reyes, Natalia Torres, R.J. Vogel III, James Valenti Jr, Ryan Valenti, Francis J. Filuta III, Barry Angus and Christopher Requate, and several great nieces and nephews, Jada, Leah, Gabriella, Mariya, Jaiana, Makenzy, Sandra, Natalya, Alani, Valencia, Cami, Zoey, Indi, Matthew, Jonathan Jr., William, James III, Greyson, Gianni, Sebastian, Jace, and Maddox. He will also be missed by his uncle, Fred Fonda, and aunt, Ann “Sissy” Winnicki (Mark), and his many loving cousins.
John was pre-deceased by his parents, Barry Angus and Mary K. Valenti, his paternal grandparents, Howard Angus and Anna "Mertie" (Fisher) Angus, maternal grandparents, Fred and Maude Fonda and Francis J. Keeley, aunts, Colleen, Kay, and Joyce, uncle, Mike, sister-in-law, Renee A. Pier-Valenti, nephew, TJ Biddle, and best friend, Tom "Doodle" Gorman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps on Parker School Road on Friday, May 3, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. This event is open to all who knew and cherished John.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice in Rensselaer.
