Johnsonville- John Marbot, 84, (Born May 24, 1939) died Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at his Johnsonville home.
John, a graduate of Cornell University, worked his family farm for over 60 years. His love for farming started at a young age growing up on his parents’ dairy farm. He was a long standing member of the New York Holstein Association and Holstein USA, raising and breeding registered holsteins on Edmaral Farms in Johnsonville with his father, Al, and brother, Frank. He was a member of the Cornell University Dairy Judging Team and earned Top Honors in Guernsey Dairy Judging at Waterloo, Iowa. In 1961 he earned Top 10 Honors in the Hoard’s Dairyman Judging Contest. In addition to his love of farming, John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews, with whom he shared his love of showing dairy cattle. During youth shows at county fairs, you could find him giving them his boisterous, louder than life pointers from the sidelines. John was also committed to his community and served as the Supervisor of the Town of Pittstown.
John was the spouse of Lois (Bassett) Marbot, who predeceased him. He is survived by his son, David Marbot of Schoharie, his grandsons, Brandon Marbot (Michelle), Alex Marbot (Carley), Bryan Marbot, and Garrett Marbot, his daughter, Karen L. Marbot (Kristine M. Wohlfahrt) of Valley Falls, his granddaughter, Katharine Marbot, his sister and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7 located in Raymertown on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
