Troy- June Caroline (Humphrey) Campbell, 88, a long time resident of Woodward Avenue and more recently Diamond Rock Terrace, died peacefully, Friday, May 15, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital following a long illness.
Born and raised on the Humphrey family farm in Nortonville, (Town of Pittstown) October 10, 1926, Mrs. Campbell was the daughter of the late Stanley C. and Hazel (Holbritter) Humphrey and at one time the wife of the late Harold G. Campbell, who predeceased her.
Mrs. Campbell was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and as a young woman, assisted as a nurse’s aide for the American Red Cross. She later worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Leonard Hospital, several area nursing homes, and most recently for over 33 years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy. She retired in 1997.
June was a longtime member of the Pittstown and Center Brunswick United Methodist Churches, the Rensselaer County Home Bureau and the East Side Quilters Club. A wonderful seamstress, she was known for her love of arts and crafts and quilting.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her five children, Beverly (Kenneth) Morse of S. Hadley, MA, Terry C. McFalls of Schenectady, Harold “Hal” W. (Diane) Campbell of Virginia Beach, VA, Diane Thompson of Latham and Bruce (Regina “Ellen”) Campbell of Speigletown, two sisters, Ruth Hull of Ballston Spa and Pearl Schanz of Mechanicville, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown, with Rev. Art Hagy, officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 P.M.
At the request of the Campbell family, memorial contributions if desired, may be made to the Center Brunswick United Methodist Church, 990 Hoosick Road, Troy, NY 12180 in memory of June C. Campbell.
