Troy- Larry W. Osgood, 71, a longtime resident of East Poestenkill and more recently Troy, died suddenly Monday, April 4, 2022, following a short illness.
Born in Troy and raised in East Poestenkill, Larry was the son of the late Robert and Anna Mae (Michaels) Osgood and the brother of Edward Osgood and Linda (Osgood) Scott both of Troy, who survive.
Larry attended the Poestenkill Elementary School and was a graduate of Averill Park High School, class of 1968.
For many years Larry assisted his late father in the raising of farm animals and making hay and the stewardship of Woodside-56 Road Cemetery. In addition, he owned and operated Mountain Gardens Greenhouses from his residence in East Poestenkill for many years.
Larry was an active member of the Union Gospel Church in East Poestenkill, where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was a former youth group leader.
In addition to his brother and sister, Larry is survived by several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service for Larry will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00-6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place in Woodside-56 Road Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions if desired may be made to either the Union Gospel Church of East Poestenkill or Woodside-56 Road Cemetery Association in memory of Larry W. Osgood.
