Pittstown- Marcia Jean Hardick, 74, a longtime resident of Boyntonville, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home January 19, 2023, following a long illness.
Born in Albany, Marcia was the daughter of the late John C. and Dorothy E. (Ammenheuser) Hardick and is survived by a sister, Carol D. Hardick, and a brother, John E. Hardick, and his fiancé, Lori Zipkin.
Marcia was a graduate of Ichabod Crane Senior High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Russell Sage College and earned her license as a registered nurse shortly thereafter. She worked as a nurse manager at Albany Medical Center, as well as the University of Chicago Hospitals. More recently, Marcia was a staff nurse at Samaritan Hospital before becoming a Clinical Education Specialist for Steris Inc. for almost 20 years. She retired in July 2017. During her career, Marcia was proud to have served as the President of the Society of Gastroenterological Nurses Association and of the many other awards and accolades she received.
Marcia was a member of the former Boyntonville Methodist Church. She and her father often shared their favorite saying, “Keep the faith.” She also volunteered as an EMT prior to earning her nursing license.
She enjoyed traveling, backyard gardening, baking, solving crossword puzzles, watching the news, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. She was an avid animal lover and cared for her many cats over the years. Above all else, Marcia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, whom she dedicated herself to first and foremost in her life and loved dearly.
In addition to her siblings, Marcia is survived by her nephew, Shawn E. Hardick, and three nieces, Joanna E. (Hardick) Yepez and her husband, Marduk H. Yepez, Brianna J. Solimini and her wife, Gianna Solimini, and Danielle J. (Hardick) Duke and her husband, James J. Duke, three great-nephews, Elijah M. Yepez, Josiah J. Duke, and Jeremiah J. Duke, and cousins, Robert and Debbie Ammenheuser, Howard and Tammy Ammenheuser, and Gwen Ammenheuser. In addition to her late parents, Marcia was also predeceased by her great-niece, Joy E. Yepez.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until noon, at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., located at 2237 NY Route 7, in Raymertown. A service celebrating Marcia’s life will follow at noon. Burial will take place in Eagle Mills Cemetery in Brunswick.
In honor of her EMT service and love of animals, contributions, if desired, to either the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps., 60 Parker School Road, Johnsonville, NY 12094, or the Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12203, would be greatly appreciated.
