West Sand Lake- Marian Eddy, mother, friend, and educator, died peacefully, Wednesday, July 27, 2016, surrounded by her loving daughter and compassionate caregivers, at the Ludder’s County Home in West Sand Lake.
Born in Raymertown, August 24, 1919, Marian was the seventh of eight daughters born to the late Charles A. and Mercie M. (Bornt) Eddy.
After attending the Raymertown District School, Marian graduated from Lansingburgh High School in 1936 and earned a Bachelor Degree in Education from the New Paltz Normal School, (now known as SUNY-New Paltz) in 1940.
For over forty-four years, she pursued her life’s passion, teaching elementary age children. After teaching at the Sand Lake Elementary School for many years, she retired from the Averill Park Central School District in 1984.
Marian is survived by her daughter, Dawn Maria Lee-Desroches and her husband, Bernard, both of Latham, a sister, Harriet Dickinson (late husband, Ronald), of Wynantskill and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by six sisters, Lola Eddy, Sylvia Eddy, Florence Rosston, Dorothy Chase, Lucy McKeon and Althea Eddy.
A private funeral service was held on Saturday, July 30th at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc., located in Raymertown with lifelong family member and friend Rev. Gaylord Campbell officiating. Private burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Raymertown. There will be no public calling.
