Raymertown, NY- Marie E. (Crandall) Roberts, 74, passed away at home on July 12, 2020, with her family by her side.
Marie was born September 20, 1945, to Otis and Joan (Bryant) Crandall Sr. of Berlin. She was raised in Cambridge by Gertrude and Bill Zetto and is survived by her daughters, Debi (Jack) Joslin and Sherry (Dave) Bleau, and her son, Corey T. (Michele Hughs) Bailey, an adopted son, Chad Bailey, and a stepdaughter, Susan (Tom) Hubbard.
Marie married the love of her life, John Roberts of Raymertown, who also survives, on March 23, 1985, in Grafton. The couple shared 35 happy years together. Marie and John could always be seen doing everything together, whether they were cutting firewood, doing maintenance chores, or shopping for groceries or clothes, they were always together.
Marie started her career as a school bus driver working for the former 5th Avenue Bus Lines in Troy and later at the Brittonkill Central School District, staying for over 35 years.
For the last 12 years she transported disabled students, who as their bus driver, were her pride and joy. She and Carol McGrath, Marie’s bus aide, attended classes together on their own time to learn International Sign Language in order to better serve and communicate with their students with hearing impairments.
Marie is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Otis Jr., Billy, Donnie, Artie, Annina, Charlie, Patty, George, Ella, Sally, Ronnie, Ricky, and Susan, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by an infant son, Joseph Bailey, a grandson, Joshua Bleau, and two brothers, Mike Crandall and Eddie Crandall.
At Marie’s request, there will be no calling hours. Out of love and the health and safety of her many friends and relatives, a private committal ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family at Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke, following the current NYS COVID-19 social distancing practices with her son-in-law, Tom Hubbard, officiating.
Memorial contributions in lieu of floral gifts, if desired, may be made to either the Mohawk and Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204, or Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202, in memory of Marie E. Roberts.
Funeral service details are under the direction of the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown, NY 12180.
