
Marion Brownell Moore, 88, a long-time resident of Valley Falls, NY, passed away at Eddy Village Green, Cohoes, NY, on March 26, 2021, after a long illness.
Marion was born January 6, 1933, in Cambridge, New York. She was the youngest of five children born to Forrest and Edna (Welling) Brownell of Johnsonville, NY. Marion graduated from Hoosic Valley in 1950 and was named valedictorian of her class. She completed one year of study at Plattsburgh State College, and then married Murray J. Moore in September 1952.
Marion was a life-long active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Johnsonville, NY. She was a choir member for over 70 years and served in numerous volunteer and administrative capacities for the church. She was also a member of the Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Marion is survived by her children David (Theresa) Moore, Valley Falls, NY; Duane (Karen) Moore, Valley Falls, NY; Linda Moore, Centennial, CO; Donna (Michael) Nolan, Cambridge NY; Jill (Fred) Anderson, Melrose NY; Neil (Beverly) Moore, Valley Falls, NY; and Jerry (Mary Jo) Moore, Saratoga, NY. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Marion was predeceased by her best friend, Dr. John Vinett, and her siblings Vera Hogan, Evelyn Kosowsky, Norma Davis, and Donn Brownell.
Marion transitioned from being a full-time Mom to full-time employment when she joined Tri-State Business Equipment. Later, she worked at Word Computer Support; Urbach, Kahn, and Werlin; Grand Union; and Rite Aid. Most recently, she worked at State Farm Insurance for six years, retiring in 2011 at the age of 78.
A private service will be held for family members only at Christ United Methodist Church, Johnsonville, NY, on Monday, March 29, 2021, at 1:00 PM. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke, NY.
