
Watervliet- Mary K. (Keeley) Valenti, 76, a longtime resident of Troy and more recently Watervliet died peacefully, Monday, March 5, 2018 at her Carondelet Drive residence following a short illness, with her family by her side.
Born in Cornwall, NY, October 4, 1941, Mrs. Valenti was the daughter of the late Francis J. Keeley and Maude (Joyce) Fonda and the wife of Robert Bowler of Gloversville who survives.
Mary began working as a waitress at the age of 15 and through the years was employed by several area restaurants including former Valle’s Steak House and the Latham 76 Diner. In the mid 1960’s she established the “Home Stretch Restaurant” in Troy and operated it until market conditions forced her to close the business in 1979. Mary continued to work as a waitress for several more years while raising her family and caring for her home until retiring. Most recently to keep busy she worked part time as was as a cashier at the Brunswick Walmart.
In her quiet time, Mary enjoyed watching Jai-Alai games, playing her daily numbers and lotto, playing slot machines on trips to Atlantic City and the atmosphere and environment of the summertime at Saratoga Race Course.
Mrs. Valenti is survived by her children, Freddie-Ann and Ray Vogel of Pittstown, Jo-Ann and Dan Requate of Valley Falls, Kathleen Valenti of Massachusetts, James M. and Madonna Valenti of Manfield, Texas, John F. Angus of Troy and Lorie M. Filuta of North Carolina, three sisters and a brother, Kathleen Haralamboupolis, Joyce Brickhouse, Fred Fonda and Ann Winnicki, 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, John M. Keeley, a sister, Colleen Duesler and a grandson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, at 1:15 P.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
