Troy-Naomi E. Wagar, 94, a longtime resident of Brunswick, Pittstown and more recently Troy, died peacefully, Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Van Rensselaer Manor following a short illness.
Born in Brunswick, February 23, 1920, Naomi was the daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel E. (Peckham) Wagar and for over 55 years the wife of the late Harland O. Wagar who predeceased her February 21, 1992. Naomi and Harland were married on October 29, 1937.
Mrs. Wagar attended the Buck District School and the Brunswick District School #6.
For several years she assisted her parents and siblings in the operation of the family dairy farm. From 1945 –1960 she was employed as a milk delivery person by the former Harold J. Winnie Creamery in Eagle Mills. More recently she has been home maker who enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting and handcrafts.
Naomi was a member of Gilead Lutheran Church in Brunswick, a member of the T.O.P.S. (Town of Pittstown Seniors) and a former member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Raymertown and both the Petersburg and Grafton Seniors groups.
Mrs. Wagar is survived by two brothers, Calvin L. Wagar and Alton R. Wagar both of Brunswick and five sisters, Helen Kriel, Lena Colty and Myra G.
Wagar, all of Troy, Alice M. Hetman of Florida and Dorothy A. Maxwell of Brunswick and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her
parents she was predeceased by three brothers, Kenneth C. Wagar, Floyd W. Wagar, John E. Wagar and three sisters, Bertha Kaschak, Beatrice Mae Wagar and Marion Wagar.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 12:00 P.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237
New York Route 7, located in Raymertown with Rev. Stephen Cordes, officiating. Burial will follow in Eagle Mills Cemetery in Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until noon, prior to the service.
