Schaghticoke- Patricia A. ”Pat” (Stodgell) Garrahan, 77, a longtime area resident, died peacefully, Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Centers for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls following a her illness.
Born in Schenectady, April 26, 1939, Pat was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Elizabeth (Lesson) Stodgell.
Patty was a graduate of Hoosic Valley High School and earned her license as a beautician after graduating from cosmetology school.
For many years, she worked at several area beauty shops as a hairdresser with the goal of someday owning her own studio. That dream was realized when she opened and operated “Headlines Salon” on Lower Main Street in Schaghticoke.
Among her favorite pastimes as a younger woman was her love of square dancing and snow skiing. More recently she loved spending summers at the camp on the Great Sacandaga Lake, was an avid astrologist, enjoyed music, dancing and visiting with her friends and “Rye Bread Family.”
Pat is survived by her children, Colleen Garrahan (Ray) of Schaghticoke, Timothy Garrahan of Schaghticoke and Kate and Donald Nadeau of Cambridge, a brother, Robert F. “Butch” Stodgell of Schaghticoke, four grandchildren, Adrienne Peterson (Brian), Elizabeth Bessette (Gary), Jeremy Nadeau (Lauren) and Hunter Nadeau (Abigail), three great-grandchildren, Audrey Peterson, Gemma Bessette and Khloe Nadeau, a niece, Karen Brown and a nephew, Bobby Stodgell.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017, at 7:15 PM, at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, from 5-7:00 P.M. prior to the service.
