Hoosick Falls- Patricia F. “Patsy” (Wilson) Sheffer, 66, of Route 7, died peacefully, Sunday, January 22, 2017 at her Potter Hill residence with her devoted family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Troy, October 21, 1950, Patsy was the daughter of the late George E. Wilson Jr. and Betty M. (Elliott) Wilson and for many years the wife and friend of Charles R. Sheffer of Malta, who survives.
Patsy was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School and recently earned a certificate as a special education classroom assistant.
For over 5 years she has been employed as a para-professional at the Pownal Elementary School in Pownal, Vermont. Prior to that she had been employed as a teaching assistant by the Hoosick Falls Central School District and the Kiddie Carr Daycare Center.
Patsy was a member of the Pittstown United Methodist Church and the Hoosick Falls Home Bureau. In her quiet time, she enjoyed crafting, and spending time with her children and extended family. She also enjoyed vacationing, especially in Myrtle Beach, Disney World, and taking cruises.
Patsy is survived by her children, Melissa and Jeffrey Gardner and Daniel Sheffer all of Potter Hill, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and George Starr of N. Hoosick and Debbie and Leonard Thompson of New Ringgold, PA, brothers and sisters in law, Patricia and David Niles of Ghent, NY, Claudia Lohnes and Fran Brundige of Potter Hill, Wilda Sheffer of Pittstown, Wallace and Kathy Sheffer of Potter Hill and Patrick Murnane of Boyntonville, three granddaughters, Katy Gardner, Emily Gardner and Olivia Sheffer all of Potter Hill and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Patsy was predeceased by a dear sister-in-law, the late Gail Murnane.
A funeral service with reception to follow, will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 4:00 P.M. at the Pittstown United Methodist Church, 57 Old State Route 7, located in Pittstown. Burial will take place later this spring at Warren Cemetery in Boyntonville. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, from noon – 3:00 P.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, locate in Raymertown, prior to the funeral service.
