Hoosick Falls- Patricia “Pat” (Sweeney) Wainwright, 82, a longtime resident of the Capital District and more recently Hoosick Falls, died peacefully, Monday, September 27, 2021, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington from a broken heart she suffered after losing her beloved Albert on January 2, 2007.
Born in Troy, November 12, 1938, Pat was the daughter of the late Raymond Sweeny and Emily (Cocca) Sweeney-Herald and, for many years, the devoted wife of the late Albert C. Wainwright.
Pat was a graduate of Troy High School and after raising her family earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Computer Programming from the State University of Albany in 1979.
A woman of action known to jump into her endeavors with both feet, Pat was employed for several years as a computer programmer at the Times Mirror Magazine in NYC.
Pat helped to co-found the Brunswick Girls Softball League in the 1970’s, loved to play golf with her husband and friends, enjoyed entertaining family and many friends at her summer camp on Warner’s Lake, and hoped to visit all 50 of the United States in her motor home.
Pat loved her family and friends with her whole heart and is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Cindi and Al Konieczny of Pittstown, a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Rachel Wainwright of Clarksville, TN, and a son-in-law, Scott (the late Cheryl) Foster of Fairbanks, AK, her adored grandchildren, Christopher Konieczny, Amanda Konieczny, Heather Konieczny, Haley Wainwright, Cameron Wainwright, Colton Foster, and Marisa Foster.
At her request a graveside service for Pat will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy. There will be no public calling.
In memory of her love of family and friends and in honor of her husband, “Bert”-, memorial contributions if desired may be made to the charity of your choice or please take your family to dinner or perhaps share an adult beverage with good friends in memory of Pat Wainwright.
