East Greenbush- Paul R. Lang, 82, a longtime resident of Pittstown and more recently East Greenbush, died peacefully Monday, January 11, 2021, at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
Born in the Town of Brunswick, April 3, 1938, Paul is the son of the late Robert and Irma (Peckham) Lang and for over 25 years the husband of Jacqueline (Worth) Lang of Melrose who survives.
Paul was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School.
From 1970-1975 Paul was employed by the Rensselaer County Sherriff’s Department as a Deputy on the Road Patrol Unit. Simultaneously he worked a second job as a member of the D&H Railroad Police Force at the railyard. After retiring from both the County and D&H, he worked as a driver for the former AMSA Armored Car services in Albany until accepting a position as a security guard at the Foley Court House in Albany. Most recently he worked as a driver for the LabCorp Company in Albany as a way to keep active even in his retired years.
Paul was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Raymertown and the North Troy Stag, Rod and Gun Club in Melrose. In his quiet time he enjoyed the hobby of hunting and visiting with old friends at Tim Brown’s garage.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Donna Bates of NC, a sister, Luella Curley of Melrose, and nephews, Robert T. Curley of Schenectady, Donald Bornt and Ronnie Bornt of Pittstown and Robert Bornt of Melrose. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas L. Lang and Robert Elliot Lang, a sister, Mary Bornt, and his brother-in-law, Jerome Curley.
A funeral service for Paul will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. Burial will follow in Eagle Mills Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Proper facial masks, social distancing and occupancy limits following the current NYS Health Dept. COVID-19 guidelines will be required.
At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association - Northeastern NY Chapter, 4 Pine West Plaza, Albany, NY 12205, in memory of Paul R. Lang.
