Peter L Stover, age 72, of Valley Falls, New York passed away at his home on December 6, 2020. Peter was born in Troy, NY on February 2, 1948. He graduated from Hoosic Valley Central School in 1965, later earning a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from William Penn College, and a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Hudson Valley Community College. Peter served as the Pittstown Town Justice for 11 years and worked for the New York State Court of Claims for 20 years as a network engineer.
Peter was an avid and talented woodworker with a meticulous eye for detail. He sang tenor in the Valley Falls United Methodist Church Choir and several other local choral groups. He was a car enthusiast who loved working on his hot rod and was a member of Tobacco Road Street Rods. He donated his time and expertise to various projects through the United Methodist Church Volunteers in Mission program, from building wheelchair ramps locally to rebuilding homes after natural disasters as far away as Alabama. He had been a member of Victor Lodge since 1977 and was a lifelong member of the Valley Falls Volunteer Fire Department.
Peter is survived by his wife Susan, to whom he was married for 44 years; his two daughters, Laura and Carolyn, of Nashville, TN; his sisters Edith Elizabeth Stover of Marin County, CA and Janet (Bill) Weber of Valley Falls; niece Sarah (Mike Bonsor) Weber; nephew Ted Burlick; great-nieces Allison Acton and Lilith Bonsor; and cousin Nicole Sharpe. A memorial service for Peter will be held when COVID restrictions have eased. Donations in his memory may be made to the Valley Falls United Methodist Church or the Valley Falls Free Library.
