Brunswick- Pieter D. “Pete” Burhans, 64, a longtime resident of Eagle Mills, died peacefully Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his residence following a long illness.
Born in Kingston, NY, May 20, 1954, Pieter was the son of the late Alice (Atherton) Burhans and Richard Burhans of Eagle Mills who survives.
Pieter was a graduate of Tamarac High School. He was a machinist by trade and an avid hunter and outdoorsman. His greatest pleasures in life centered around raising his children and growing vegetables in his garden. Many considered him a jack of all trades and he was always ready and willing to help a friend in need.
In addition to his father, Mr. Burhans is survived by a son, Pieter, wife Julie, grandson Oliver of Gansevoort, and a daughter, Lori Nicola and grandson Colton of Brunswick. Pieter had 3 brothers and 1 sister, Derek Burhans, Jan Burhans, Nicolas Burhans and Rebecca Boomhower.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., located in Raymertown. A graveside committal service will follow at the Eagle Mills Cemetery in Brunswick.
Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the COPD Foundation in memory of Pieter D. Burhans.
