-Saratoga Springs - Rachel Marie Zareski Walts, 40, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her loving husband and family following a sudden illness.
Rachel was born on February 23, 1976 in Troy, NY, attended Tamarac Elementary school, graduated from Saratoga Springs High School and Adirondack Community College with an Associate’s degree in Travel and Tourism. At the time of her death, Rachel was employed by the New York State Department ofTaxation and Finance as a Taxpayer Services Specialist I.
Rachel had a unique zest for life and lived her life to the fullest. She cared for her family deeply and she included her closest friends in her ‘Framily’. Rachel was a beautiful person who had a captivating smile. It was a testament to Rachel that her dog, Lily, joined her in heaven on April 6.
Rachel is survived by her husband of almost 14 years, Andrew, her mother, Barbara Hefter, father, Richard Zareski, brother, Steven Hefter (Karen), sister, Susan Verhaeg (Anthony), brother, Jonathan Hefter (Kathryn) and grandfather, Raymond Zareski. She is further survived by her aunts and uncles, Donna and Lawrence Bonesteel, Karen and Timothy Shuler, Debbie and Randy Zareski, Robin Zareski and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Rachel was predeceased by her stepfather, Stuart Hefter, grandparents Helen and Timothy Shuler, grandmother, Barbara Zareski and cousin, Lisa Bonesteel. She is also survived by her dog, Fenway, and cats,Troy and Julius.
Relatives and friends are invited to a ‘Celebration of Rachel’s Life’ memorial service at the Old Daley on Crooked Lake, 2339 State Route 43,Averill Park, NY on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 3pm.
